In this five-day workshop, students will explore how to tell personal stories through clay. Jill will demonstrate methods of building three-dimensional forms using soft and leather-hard slabs as well as paper templates. These forms may be conceptual, utilitarian or sculptural. Surface techniques -- including slip and underglaze application, brushwork, graffito, slip inlay, water etching, wax resist, transfers and stencils -- will help students develop narrative-driven surfaces. Participants are encouraged to bring 2D or digital images for inspiration. Artist website: https://artaxis.org/artist/jill-oberman/
