The Unusual Suspects: The Inside-Out Technique

ID : 710

« back to classes page
Using the life-size portrait bust as a foundation, this workshop explores how facial and upper-body expression can convey narrative and emotion. Students will learn academic proportions as a framework for inventing their own sculptural characters. We will use the inside-out modeling techniqu — sculpting from both sides of the clay wall — to better understand the relationship between skin, muscle and bone. Underglaze application, Impressionistic gesture and color theory will also be covered as students finish their sculptures in the greenware stage. Artist Website: arthurgonzalez.net
